Mission of the Office of International Education

The Office of International Education (OIE) is dedicated to promoting international understanding through study abroad, research, curriculum development, and the exchange of international students, scholars, and faculty. Under the direction of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, OIE strives to assist the University of Georgia (UGA) in maintaining both its commitment to internationalization and its ranking among the top educational institutions in the U.S. To accomplish this mission, OIE works within the spectrum of international education by bringing international students and scholars to UGA Student, Scholar & Immigration Services (SSIS) and sending UGA students and faculty overseas (Study Abroad, UGA Residential Study Abroad Centers as well as faculty and student exchange opportunities). OIE also serves as a resource to UGA schools, colleges and other campus units seeking to increase and diversify student recruitment, internationalize their teaching curriculum and course offerings, expand their collaborative research agendas, and identify overseas opportunities.
