60 years, 4 months, and 12 days after the founding
of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated and its Alpha Chapter,
Brothers Walter Allen Sr., Gamma Nu Chapter Spring 50, and Joseph A.
Johnson, completed the implementation of a plan that helped carry on
our 10 illustrious founder's dream. These great brothers founded the
Zeta Iota Chatper at the University of Georgia. With the aid of our
mother chapter, Gamma Zeta of Fort Valley State University, and our
sister chapter, Gamma Chi of Savannah State University, the charter
line named the Sedistic Sixteen was produced and the fraternities fundamental
purpose has been carried oun ever since at the flagship institution
of Georgia. With a strong belief in excelling academically, athletically,
socially, and through service, members of the Zeta Iota Chapter precisely
displays what it means to achieve in every field of human endeavor.
Members of the Zeta Iota Chapter have graduated from the University
to be come doctors, lawyers, politicians, financial consultants, real
estate agents, CPAs, and even Pro football and basketball players.
While undergraduates, an eye opening number of brothers maintained an excellent
academic status, topping all greeks in cumulative GPA. Also, the brothers of
the Zeta Iota Chapter takes great pride in its Guideright Program which also
produces the highest amount of Community service hours of any NPHC organization.
However, the social events cannot be forgotten. The brothers of the Zeta Iota
chapter have been recognized at a local and national level for its innovative
social programs. Programs like Kappa Sip, Klub Nupe, Nupe Review and Auction,
and of course the annual TOGA Party have given students extraordinary events
to wind down and have an extravaganza!
Nationally, Zeta Iota also excels. At a Provincial level, the chapter received
recognition for being 2000-2001 Chapter of the Year, Guideright Chapter of the
Year, and Program of the Year with our annual "Meet the Minority Faculty Program." Individually,
Zeta Iota brothers have been honored with Polemarch of the Year, Guideright Chairman
of the Year, and spotlights in the Kappa Alpha Psi Journal. Ultimately, Zeta
Iota Brothers have been elected to the Grand Board of Directors and has held
the Junior Grand Vice Polemarch position, which is the highest positon that any
undergraduate can hold.
Not all men can be Kappa Men however. With a strong emphasis on bonding, one
must become humble in search of Phi Nu Pi and to ultimately call another man
his "brother from another mother" and MEAN it. Most importantly, you must:
have a minimum 2.5 GPA
at least 30 Community Service Hours
30 Semester Hours
If you feel that you posess what it takes to become a Zeta Iota Nupe, it is your
duty to consult a Brother of the Zeta Iota Chapter and obtain more information.
