UGA is a global network made up of thousands of alumni, students,
faculty, and staff, as well as parents of students, the Board
of Trustees, donors, athletic fans, and neighborhood partners.
But the uniqueness of the Bulldog Nation isn't due to its
vast numbers. Rather, it's the extraordinary closeness and
solidarity that is found in this genuinely supportive community.
To its members, the term "Bulldog Nation" is more
than a phrase: it represents a promise, a commitment to support
that is lifelong and worldwide.
Students
The student body at the University of Georgia is increasingly
recognized as one of the strongest in American public higher
education. The quality of the incoming classes has risen steadily
over the past decade, and our average SAT score now ranks
in the top 10 among public institutions. Perhaps no other
fact tells the story of student quality at UGA better than
this: During the 2002-2003 academic year, only four American
universities had students receive the Rhodes, Marshall, Truman
and Goldwater scholarships. Those four universities are Harvard,
Yale, Brown and the University of Georgia. This is the company
our students keep at the University of Georgia.
Faculty
The faculty at UGA is also recognized as one of the strongest
in the country. With demonstrated excellence in teaching,
an aggressive agenda in research and a commitment to public
service, UGA faculty have created a cycle of quality that
responds to the challenge of a top-flight student body. The
University of Georgia is today seen as a career destination
for up-and-coming faculty, who see in this place an opportunity
to teach, to conduct research and to serve at one of America's
best public universities.
Alumni
Since the first class received diplomas two centuries ago,
the University of Georgia has produced hundreds of thousands
of graduates whose impact on the state of Georgia, this nation
and the world cannot be measured. Today, with more than 200,000
living alumni, UGA is alma mater to some of the most successful
people in all fields of endeavor. The UGA Alumni Association
helps maintain the important connection between our alumni
and UGA.
Staff
Every great university must have a strong, able and committed
staff to support and enhance the work of the faculty and students.
The staff of the University of Georgia is just that, and more.
From the grounds crew to the lab technicians, from the academic
advisors to the grants coordinators, from the bus drivers
to the physical plant, the thousands of staff at the University
