Museum to show Chaplin film
The Georgia Museum of Art will show the Charlie Chaplin film “Modern Times” July 31 at 7 p.m. as part of its Picturing America Film Series. The 1936 film is Chaplin’s last outing as the Little Tramp in which he puts the iconic character to work as a giddily inept factory employee who becomes smitten with a gorgeous gamine.
Legion Pool offers cool recreation
UGA’s Legion Pool is open for students, employees and their guests. Pool hours are 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is $3 to $5, with season passes available.
Exhibition features Alabama artist
The Georgia Museum of Art is bringing to light the works of a virtually unknown female artist in its exhibition "The Prints of Mary Wallace Kirk," on display through Oct. 12. Kirk, who was born and lived most of her life in Tuscumbia, Alabama, produced finely detailed renderings of the countryside for about a decade, between the 1930s and 1940s. The exhibition features approximately 30 of her works, including watercolors, etched plates and drawings as well as printed etchings.
