honors program - faculty faq
How do I become Honors Faculty? There is no technical “Honors Faculty” distinction. Any faculty member who teaches an Honors course is considered Honors faculty. The Honors Program is pleased to be working with both junior and senior faculty members of academic departments all over campus. If you are interested in teaching Honors courses, contact your department head. If you would like to teach an Honors Seminar, please consult this page. Who can teach an Honors course? We are glad to have any interested faculty members, visiting lecturers, or experienced adjunct faculty. Graduate students may not offer Honors sections, though some post-doc and award-winning recent PhDs have taught Honors students. How can I get an Honors section approved? Most likely you will need to have the course approved by your department before it is approved by the Honors Program. All of these proposals will go through the curriculum committee via the CAPA course proposal system. Check with your department head. Are all Honors courses taught in Moore College? Honors sections are taught all over campus. If you would like assistance in reserving a room in Moore College, please contact the Assistant to the Director of Honors. Is it true that an Honors student cannot be assigned below a "B" in a course without consulting the Honors Program? No such rule exists. Any students operating under this misconception can be directed to the Coordinator of Courses & Advising. |
