“Interning with the main legal and legislative representative body of hospitals in New York City and surrounding areas was an invaluable experience for someone interested in working in health care. My internship focused on improving quality and patient safety in hospitals and the management of volunteer health professionals during emergencies. I now have a better appreciation for how all agents in health care work together and how physicians can play an active role in shaping policy. As a future physician leader, I look forward to applying what I have learned to provide quality, sustainable patient care.” -- Kevin Chang ’09, Health Policy Intern, Greater New York Hospital Association
The Honors in New York Internship Program began in summer 2006, providing a placement for students interested in public health issues. This program provides a $3,000 stipend to offset living expenses.
All internships take place during the summer and require a minimum of 8 weeks participation with the internship. Only second- and third-year (based on date of enrollment) Honors students are eligible to apply. For further information, contact Maria de Rocher in the Honors Program.
