Make an Advising Appointment

Honors students can make advising appointments online with the Student Advising & Registration Assistant, SARA. You may wish to bookmark this page.

Instructions for using SARA: Make An Appointment

If you encounter difficulties or your advisor does not appear to have any open appointments, call 542-3240 and set up an appointment with the front desk. Students who need to cancel or reschedule an appointment must do so 24 hours in advance.

Honors Access (POH)

Fourth-year students may request Honors access to Spring 2009 courses on or after Wednesday, September 2.

  • Third-year students may request Honors access on or after Thursday, September 3.

  • Second-year students may request Honors access on or after Friday, September 4.

  • First-year students may request Honors access on or after Wednesday, September 9.

Students may come to Moore College or call the Honors Program front desk at 542-3240 between 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday to receive POH.

Advising Appointments

Second-year students may go online to make an appointment beginning Wednesday, September 2; advising appointments for second-year students will begin on Friday, September 4.

First-year students may go online to make an appointment beginning Monday, September 14; advising appointments for first-year students will begin on Thursday, September 17.

Walk-in Questions

Students who have questions for Honors advisors but who do not need to be cleared for registration should come to advisors’ walk-in hours, Monday through Thursday from 2-4pm. Please check in at the front desk.

Clarifications and Exceptions

Arts & Sciences, Pre-Business, and Pre-Journalism students will be advised in both Moore College and Myers Hall. Students in all other schools and colleges (e.g. College of Education, CAES, SPIA) must see their college advisors to receive clearance for registration; they may schedule an optional follow-up appointment with an Honors advisor.

Pre-Business students who are applying to Terry this semester will NOT be advised by Honors. You will be notified in early October of your acceptance into a Terry major, and you will then be advised by your new Terry departmental advisor. Your Terry advising appointment will occur before Honors students register in mid-October, so you will not miss your early Honors registration.

Math, Computer Science, Physics, or Physics & Astronomy majors should make an appointment in SARA with Dr. Ted Shifrin (shifrin@math.uga.edu).

Majors who have 45 hours or more completed must be advised by their department.

Biochemistry majors should contact Dr. Mike Adams (adams@bmb.uga.edu; 542-2060) to set up an advising appointment.

Music Majors must be advised by Dr. Mary Leglar (mleglar@uga.edu) in the Music Dept.

Students who have completed core areas A-F/I-VI of their core (60 or more credit hours) MUST be advised by their major department; no Honors appointment is necessary.
