Women of UGA - Around the Arch December 2008 Issue Katharyn Richt, whose husband is head football coach Mark Richt, was the guest speaker for the inaugural meeting of the Athens chapter of the Women of UGA in August. Sponsored by the UGA Alumni Association, the group began in Atlanta, providing programs at the alumni center in Buckhead for woman affiliated with UGA, either as alumni, faculty or staff. Speakers there have included Cathy Cox (ABJ ’80), president of Young Harris College and former secretary of state, and cookbook author Anne Byrn (AB ’78). The Athens chapter has had two meetings. In October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Women of UGA gathered at the Student Learning Center to hear inspiring stories from breast cancer survivors and to get more information about the disease.
