Why I Give - Class Notes Extras
September 2013 Issue
“Simple answer. Education is our future.” — Rex Johnson on why he created the Edward W. Johnson Memorial Endowment in Game Bird Management at the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources in memory of his father, who first encouraged his love of the outdoors. Johnson lives by the motto, “Good friends, good food, good times and much good work can be done.” He and his friends have not only enjoyed fishing beautiful lakes, streams and rivers, as well as hunting large and small game and a myriad of game birds around the world, but they have given their time, talents and money to support the sustainable management of these species and their habitats. Johnson’s ultimate wish for the endowment is to provide a better environment for people of all ages to love the outdoors and to find the kindred spirits he has found by participating in outdoor activities.
