Zoe Minor (AB/BS ’02, MSW ’04) was admiring a collection of rings on display at the Georgia Museum of Art when one in particular caught her eye. As she stepped closer she read the artist’s name, “T.L. Johnson.” “I thought, ‘Hmm, that’s kind of cool, those are my boyfriend’s initials,” Minor says. “What a coincidence.’” She glanced at the date, Aug. 31, 2008, and the title, “The Johnson Engagement Ring,” and screamed. “All sense of decorum and respect went out the window.” At that moment, Tino Johnson (BSEd ’04) turned the corner and knelt in front of her. “With each passing day I love you more and more,” she recalls him saying before asking if she would marry him. “All I could think was, ‘Is this really happening?’” She said yes. The museum’s exhibition, “The Ring Shows: Then & Now and Putting the Band Back Together,” featured nearly 200 rings from the late 1970s and today. Johnson knew Minor planned to …
