Learning for life - Around the Arch December 2008 Issue UGA extension agents from across the state are partnering with the American Cancer Society to help educate Georgia residents about cancer prevention. Over the past two years, teams have traveled to counties with the highest incidence and death rates associated with breast and cervical cancers to spread the word about nutrition, exercise and early detection. Through the programs, 429 women have been referred to BreasTest and More, a public health initiative in Georgia that provides free mammograms to women over 50, 83 have received clinical breast exams, 81 have gotten mammograms and 44 have had Pap tests.
