Happy 100th, Graduate School - Around the Arch March 2010 Issue The UGA Graduate School began its yearlong centennial celebration in January with an address by Debra Stewart, president of the Council of Graduate Schools, who spoke about the opportunities and challenges facing graduate education in the next decade and beyond. Founded in 1910, the Graduate School has grown from seven students to more than 7,000 today. Mary Frances Early, the first black student to receive a graduate degree from UGA, will give a lecture in April as part of the anniversary celebration.
