Georgia’s Pulitzer Prizes - Around the Arch
September 2008 Issue
The Georgia Review will bring together four recent Pulitzer Prize winners in October for a four-day celebration of “The Pulitzer Legacy in Georgia.” The event, Oct. 27-30 at the Jekyll Island Club, will include poets Stephen Dunn and Natasha Trethewey, journalist Hank Klibanoff, and historian Edward Larson. Dunn, a frequent contributor to the Georgia Review, won the 2001 Pulitzer in poetry. Tretheway (BA ’89), a professor at Emory University, was awarded the Pulitzer for poetry in 2007. Klibanoff, until recently a managing editor at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, won the 2007 Pulitzer in history for a book on civil rights he penned with fellow journalist Gene Roberts. Edward Larson, a former UGA professor now at Pepperdine University, won the 1998 history prize for his book on the debate over the theory of evolution. The event is open to the public.
