Alumni win public relations award - Class Notes Extras September 2012 Issue Larry Bowie (left) and Karin Koser (right) were recognized for their work on an educational video series about spinal cord and brain injuries. The two were honored with a Silver Anvil Award of Excellence in the health care services category, presented by the Public Relations Society of America. Created by the Shepherd Center and KPKinteractive, the video series targets families and loved ones of those affected by catastrophic injury. Bowie (ABJ ’97) is director of marketing and public relations at Atlanta’s Shepherd Center, a nonprofit hospital specializing in spinal cord and brain injury. Koser (ABJ ’81) is owner of KPKinteractive, the video and interactive division of Decatur-based KPK & Company, a marketing communications firm. The series, “What you need to know about brain and spinal cord injury,” took a year to make and was distributed to 140 hospitals and associations nationwide.
