State lawmakers approved money in the fiscal year 2015 budget for a $44.7 million Science Learning Center at UGA that will provide additional state-of-the-art classrooms and labs for faculty and students.

Construction on the 122,500-square-foot facility is scheduled to begin this summer and to be completed in 2016. The building will be located on South Campus near the College of Pharmacy.

UGA will receive another $10 million once the science center is finished to modernize space in the 1960s-era chemistry and biological science buildings.
