Going green…at home
UGA faculty members have launched a website designed to help Georgians better understand how to “go green.” UGA GreenWay links viewers to resources offered through the university’s extension service. The site provides information on “greenwashing,” which refers to false advertising claims by some companies regarding environmentally responsible products. The website provides information on eco-labels, third-party certifications, consumer reviews and how to spot misleading labels. In addition to the benefits of “reduce, reuse, recycle and repurpose,” the site also emphasizes the importance of being environmentally friendly in making repairs to your home, such as eliminating moisture that causes mold and caulking doors and windows to lower heating costs. Saving “green” is also a part of the new site, which provides tips on saving money by going green and making environmentally responsible investments. Check it out at http://www.ugagreenway.com.
