"My late husband Bob graduated from Georgia Southwestern State University, but he loved the Georgia Bulldogs and he loved his family. He always hoped that his daughters would attend and graduate from UGA. After he passed away, Laura and Ashley both completed their degrees at UGA and graduated with honors. Bob would have been so proud! We all feel very fortunate that they were able to do that. We want to help make that dream possible for other UGA students who have lost a parent." —Claire Bedingfield

Claire Bedingfield and daughters Laura Leigh Bedingfield (BBA ’04) and Ashley Karen Bedingfield (BS ’07) created a scholarship in honor of Robert Forrest Bedingfield, Claire’s husband and the girls’ father. Bob Bedingfield died unexpectedly while Laura was a student at UGA and before Ashley entered. Because their father had provided for their education before his death, Laura and Ashley were able to complete their degrees at UGA without the family incurring financial hardship. The Robert Forrest Bedingfield Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to students who lost one or both parents before they entered UGA.
