The way we were
In the months before and after the attack on Pearl Harbor, UGA campus life was documented by the late Henry Wallace Richter (ABJ ’43), a staff photographer for The Red & Black and Pandora. His work—more than 600 negatives preserved in carefully labeled envelopes—captures the transition from carefree prewar life to scrap drives and blackout parties. A sample of Richter’s images from 1941-43 are available for viewing at www.libs.uga.edu/hargrett/archives/uga07-005.html, courtesy of UGA’s Hargrett Rare Book & Manuscript Library.
