Parvati Shallow (right, with fellow contestant Amanda Kimmel at the final tribal council) won the 16th installment of the CBS reality series “Survivor” in May, taking home $1 million for her win. Set in the Rock Islands of Palau, Micronesia, the show pitted 10 fans against 10 favorites chosen from previous contestants. Shallow (ABJ ’04) placed 6th in “Survivor: Cook Islands” in 2006 and was brought back as a favorite. Known as “Parv,” Shallow formed an alliance with several female contestants and was noted for her strategic play and ability to form connections with her fellow contestants. She lives in Los Angeles, where she competes as a boxer and is involved with “Knockouts for Girls,” a non-profit organization that sponsors female boxing events with proceeds going to provide academic scholarships and boxing lessons for underprivileged girls.
