What is Discovery?
Dawg Camp Discovery is a three-day retreat sponsored by the Center for Leadership & Service for 200 incoming first year students. Dawg Camp Discovery focuses on your first-year experience, campus involvement, leadership opportunities, history and traditions, and of course getting to know your fellow Bulldogs! Incoming freshmen will have the opportunity to interact with forty student leaders as well as several UGA faculty and staff members. Along with preparing students for their first year as a bulldog, there is a lot of free time to hang out and get to know each other. Some of the camps most popular activities include a shaving cream fight, free time in the pool, and not to mention an awesome luau on Saturday night!
Discovery will give you a huge head start on college life by giving you the chance to really get to know a large number of other incoming students and campus leaders while developing personal leadership skills that will make the transition to college faster and easier.
Who will be at Discovery?
In addition to the 200 other first-year students, you will also meet an outstanding group of upper-class student leaders who will serve as counselors for the weekend. You will be part of a small group of 12-15 students which will be led by 2 counselors. Together, you will share in the experience of teambuilding, learning how to get involved at UGA, and develop the leadership skills within you! Throughout the weekend, you will also be able to interact with many University Administrators and Alumni that work with students here at UGA! |
