36 University of Georgia students inducted into prestigious Arch Society

ATHENS, GA – Thirty-six University of Georgia students were inducted into the prestigious Arch Society during the organization’s annual ceremony on Sunday, April 20, 2008. The 18 men and 18 women will serve as official hosts and goodwill ambassadors for the University during the 2008-2009 school year.

The Arch Society seeks to advance the University of Georgia through service to the offices of the president, the provost, the senior vice presidents for external affairs, the vice president for student affairs, the Athletic Association, and other University offices or officials at appropriate functions.

Students participating in the Arch Society must demonstrate a desire to further the institution’s mission through humble service. They must maintain high levels of commitment and dedication, and they are expected to place the Arch Society as a top priority throughout their term of service.

To be considered for the Arch Society, candidates must be full-time students, rising third-year or above, and in good academic and disciplinary standing. Transfer and graduate students who have completed two consecutive semesters at UGA and who meet academic and disciplinary requirements are also eligible for membership.

The Arch Society is named after the most prominent symbol of the University, the Arch.

For more information about the Arch Society, call UGA’s Center for Leadership and Service at 706-583-0830 or log on to www.uga.edu/cls.
