Welcome to the Alternative Media Access Center
The Alternative Media Access Center (AMAC), an initiative of the University System of Georgia, is committed to removing barriers and providing access to knowledge for individuals with physical, sensory, and learning print-related disabilities.
AMAC is a partner of the University of Georgia and the UGA Regents' Center for Learning Disorders and works with private institutions, government and non-profit organizations, private industry, and other agencies serving individuals with disabilities. AMAC research initiatives and services incorporate digital media and adaptive technology solutions.
A World of Knowledge Video
In AMAC's new video A World of Knowledge, college students share their experiences about the importance of alternative media and assistive technology.
Take the UGA RCLD/AMAC 5 Minute Alternative Media Survey
The UGA RCLD and AMAC are conducting a student and a disability service provider survey to examine access and usage of alternative print formats.
Please take the survey and help shape "best practices" in the use of alternative media as an accommodation.
How can AMAC serve you?
Student Profile: Rhonda Partain
All that stands between Rhonda Partain and a college degree is math. She's waited her entire college career to take her math courses, not because she is afraid of math and not because she is incapable of doing college-level math work. Rhonda Partain has not taken math because she cannot read the textbooks. She is blind and requires that her math texts be transcribed into Braille.
With the Braille services of the Alternative Media Access Center, Rhonda will be able to take those math classes and finish her degree in Sociology.Featured Story
