Honors Program
The Honors Program at the University of Georgia is one of
the oldest and most respected Honors programs in the United
States. It is recognized for its high standards and the opportunities
it offers undergraduates in all disciplines. Admission to
the Honors Program is highly competitive, and the program’s
students represent only ten percent of UGA’s undergraduate
population. Honors students are highly motivated undergraduates
who are committed to making the most of the many educational
opportunities available at UGA.
The Center for Undergraduate
Research Opportunities (CURO)
Part of the Honors Program at the University of Georgia, the
Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities (CURO) promotes
opportunities for undergraduates to engage in research with
premier research faculty. The center operates on the premise
that it is possible for both young students and faculty members
to cooperatively engage in the creation of knowledge. Research
faculty members who participate in the CURO program consider
students as partners in a learning community, and many students
find that they develop mentoring relationships focused on
conducting research. All undergraduate students are eligible
to participate in the CURO program.
Foundation Fellowship
The Foundation Fellowship is UGA's most prestigious undergraduate
academic scholarship program and is awarded to approximately
20 first-year students each fall. It provides a generous stipend
plus grants for travel-study and research. Foundation Fellows
also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of additional
enrichment activities, such as dinner seminars with UGA and
visiting faculty. High school students must apply for the
Foundation Fellowship early in the fall of their senior year.
Bernard
Ramsey Honors Scholarship
The Ramsey Honors Scholarship is awarded to approximately
20 to 25 entering first-year students each fall. This scholarship
provides an annual $4,000 award for in-state students and
a $6,500 award for out-of-state students. In addition, Ramsey
scholars receive a $2000 grant for travel-study. Consideration
for this scholarship is through the application for the Foundation
Fellowship.
Honors
in Washington Internship Program
Each year, the Honors in Washington Internship Program awards
10 second- or third-year Honors students a $2,000 stipend
to support their participation in an internship program in
a congressional office, executive agency or non-profit organization.
Students can receive internship credit through their major
or an approved Honors seminar.
The
Courts International Scholars Program
The Courts International Scholars Program encourages Honors
students to engage in international travel-study or internships
by offering 20 to 25 scholarships per year ranging from $2,500
to $5,000. Awards are merit-based and include an evaluation
of the student's academic performance at the college level.
Only proposals for travel to Asia, Central America and South
America will be guaranteed full consideration.
William Moore Crane Leadership Scholarship
The William Moore Crane Leadership Scholarship awards approximately
four $1000 scholarships per year to Honors students who have
excelled academically and exhibited superior leadership skills
while attending the University of Georgia. This scholarship
is available to third-year Honors students and can be renewed
for one year.
Academic Scholarship Identification Program (ASIP)
The Honors Program sponsors the Academic Scholarship Identification
Program (ASIP) for academically strong second- and third-year
students within and outside the Honors Program. ASIP is designed
to enrich students' academic experiences and bring together
students of like ambitions and abilities.
