College of Environment & Design

The College of Environment & Design was formed in 2001, as the first new college to be named at UGA since 1969. The College evolved from the School of Environmental Design, which began its Bachelor of Landscape Architecture program in 1928, Master of Landscape Architecture in 1954, and Master of Historic Preservation in 1982. The college is home to the Environmental Ethics Certificate Program (EECP).

The College represents the ability to form visual intelligence of the physical world. Its teachings, research and outreach focus on the physical design elements of the environment and resources, changing global landscapes, urban design, land use patterns and development, historic landscapes, recreational design, healing and healthy community design, and it offers a collaborative vision on rural, urban, and environmental impacts across many disciplines. The College also boasts notoriety and recognition of its Landscape Architecture programs, as both are consistently ranked annually in the top 5 across the nation.
